Right smack in the middle of November, the year almost coming to a close, I can’t help but look back and say, this year was certainly an affiliate marketing software year.

2007 saw the release of several tools and programs to help affiliate marketers, many were referred to as spy tools and even had the word spy in it, some were positioned as research tools; there is even one that I tried out briefly that a novel oriental assassin to it, “ninja”.

With the year almost ending, there is just one more program that will soon be launched and that is Google Assassin by Chris X of the famed Affiliate Project X, Day Job Killer and Adwords Miracle. If you remember Day Job Killer is that ClickBank bestseller that sold 9,000 copies in it first week alone. Often touted as the sequel to DJK, Google Assassin is more than just an ebook or affiliate marketing instruction manual. It is a membership site complete with courses, lessons, materials… and access to this new software Chris is supposed to have spent over $45,000 to develop. This thing is called Automated Annihilation.

It makes me wonder how this new software figures into the equation, considering there is already a lot of research software out in the market, and I will give you a rundown later on, but according to Chris what makes Automatic Annihilation unique, is that it simply clones him and it does exactly what he would do.

He asked his programmers to clone himself in a machine that thinks like him, picks the keywords he would pick, flags the products he would normally promote… a custom Google espionage package that effectively FORCES the user to copy the moves of a ClickBank millionaire, and by that he is referring to himself of course.

There is one test which they are talking about, a test subject was able to generate as much as $500 in his first week, and the success was attributed not to the subject’s skills or lack of it but to the program that did exactly as Chris would, and so they say “He really didn’t have a choice but to profit.”

In case you want to know more about it, visit Google Assassin.

Other Affiliate Marketing Research and Spy Software

Affiliate Elite

Affiliate Elite is in all honesty my personal favorite right now. It is quite expensive however it is like having four different programs or software, that perform four very important tasks. There are other research software available but they handle just one or two of the tasks that Affiliate Elite takes care of easily. Affiliate Elite is actually my current affiliate marketing toy, you can learn more about this affiliate marketing software by clicking that link.

Ad Watchers

Ad Watchers is a relatively new product that is being marketed on ClickBank, has only been in the market place for a little over a month, but has made considerable progress recently. The nice thing about it, it is easy to use, you do not need to install any software on your computer, you simply have log on to their site. and work from there. The most interesting and unique features that I liked about Ad Watchers is their Keyword Directory that contains a pre research list of keywords sorted alphabetically. The second is the keyword directory tag cloud, which show the most popular keywords in bigger fonts, these are the niches where the money is. What is missing however is a keyword research tool, as there is a need for you to use a separate keyword research tool that you need to input into the machine for tracking. This is if you are thinking of other keywords or niches which may not be on their directory.

I almost missed out on the best part about Ad Watchers… they keyword in their directory are currently being tracked, so the moment you start using it, you are able to access keyword history and tracking data, unlike other software where you have to start from scratch, starting with a day 1 for a keyword you want to monitor.

Ad Spy Pro

Ad Spy Pro is one of my all time favorites, simply because it delivers on what it promises on the sales page, and for a one time payment of just $47… how can you regret such a purchase. All other programs are either huge one time payments with recurring monthly charges, or are membership type monthly recurring charges. Ad Spy Pro allows you to pay just once, install the software on your server and you can use it for as long as you like. This software came at a time when a couple of other spy tools X Ray Domination and Undercover Profits were charging obscene amounts for delivering features that fall short of what Ad Spy Pro could do, and at a fraction of the cost.

Keyword Spy Pro

Keyword Spy Pro is one of those earlier google adwords spy programs, and they have been out in the market for about four months now. The features are pretty standard and basically delivers all that it tells you on the sales page. It is probably time for its creators to improve on it and give it more features since as of today, it really does not stand a chance against the other research tools mentioned above.

We understand however that four months ago, this piece of software was really awesome, but the affiliate marketing game has changed drastically since then, and the later emergence of more powerful software has changed how the game is being played today… which is very different from how it was four months back.

The Ad Ninja

This interestingly titled program allows you to monitor Adwords Ads being triggered by keywords that you set. You can track these keywords and the ads they trigger as long as you want. They are currently beta testing and I did try it out myself of a couple of weeks but it is not for me. The best part about it is it shows you exactly what Google adword ads are being triggered by the keywords you are tracking. The sales page says that you get to identify the right ads to use, based on performance. There is really no absolute indicator of conversion… I think of performance and I always think conversion. The theory is, they say that the longer an ad runs, it is an indication that it is converting for the person that placed the ad.

I admit there are still some other pieces of software that are not on this brief list, some that came early in the year…but I would no trouble you with those expensive devices with features that may no longer be relevant or useful to the affiliate marketing researcher today.

So what’s in store for affiliate marketers in the aspect of research tools and programs for 2008?

The answer is not certain, as a matter of fact it is not known.. just as uncertain as the type of answers you get from using these research tools. The answer lies in you and your decisions. At the end of the day, they don’t give you an answer, they simply give you all the facts and data that help you make the right affiliate marketing decisions.
