Blogging is all the rage right now especially for internet marketers who use blogging as an affiliate marketing tool, that does deliver. Blogs have become very useful and effective marketing tools. So if you aren’t already blogging, you ought to be.

First of all, you would need to be blogging within the niches for products or services that you are promoting. For instance, if the affiliate products you are promoting are on pet care and summer cruises, you need a blog on pet care, and a blog for summer cruises.

While some marketers think that blogging is a waste of time because everyone else is doing it, this fact is actually the reason that marketers should be blogging. It is because everybody else is blogging that you should be blogging as well. The exposure that you will receive from blogging is astounding, and the traffic you can receive from other blogs which are related in topic or theme can be massive.

Blogging software is usually available with a webhosting account, and you should definitely have webhosting for the domain name that you should also have. This is quite easy to set up. However if you do not want to spend for a domain name or a web hosting account, you can start out with a free blog service and work on your blogging skills.

You can get a free blog account at hosted sites such as Blogger at www.blogger.com or WordPress at www.wordpress.com.

Some marketers have a blog hosted on their website, and an identical blog hosted at a hosted blog site. This way, they are providing links to their website every time they make a blog entry, which enhances search engine optimization.

If possible, add a new blog entry every single day. If you just cannot do that, make sure that you post at the very least once a week, or a few times a week. The more often you post, the more exposure your blog will receive.

One way to find something to write about is to visit other people’s blogs, or to read industry trade magazines. For instance, if you are promoting cat products, you might get blog ideas from Cat Channel, which is an online cat magazine, as well as from cat blogs that have a lot of readers.

Won’t posting on my own website and on a hosted blog site create duplicate content that will lower search engine access?

  3. Roy Sencio (3 comments.) Says:

    Hi Rusty,

Thanks for visiting and sending in your comment. There are several arguments presented about duplicate content. However from experience what might count are (a) the authority of the site the has posted the content (b) where it was indexed first (c) who is pointing to, linking or… referencing to that particular page with the content in question.

Here is an interesting duplicate content experiment that has yielded interesting and eye opening results.

    Thanks for visiting.
