Many people say; experts and not quite experts alike; the best way to promote your site and get traffic to it is through a link campaign. Basically what you do is try to leave as many links possible on other web pages or websites.
There are many ways to do that of course, but I won’t get in to that, I’d just like to give you a few reminders on how a quality link should be.
First of all, a quality link is found on a quality site, one that is higher in authority than yours, like higher in PR and higher in ranking. But what I found to be most important is, “the page should be of the same content or theme to the specific page you are directing the link to”.
It could a URL link or a text link; the URL link being your URL or the address of the web page the link will direct a clicker to, while text can be some sort of relevant word or words. Some people just drop a link for the sake of having one, but it is best that when you use a text link it should have the following format: anchor text, the link and title. So in code, it would look like this: <a href=”http://thewegpageiwanttolinktothattalksaboutdogtraining.com” title=”Dog Training”>Dog Training</a>. In that string of code you see the URL you are linking to, the specific text of the link you are using, and when you mouse over it a small box with text pops up, that’s called the title.

As you can see, the text used are relevant words of relation to the page being linked to, plus when you mouse over it you see a title as well. These are important also when you want to get search engines to list you in search results for those keywords.
If you haven’t noticed, do note that one way to do linking is to create other sites that you can link to, but there is much question about methods like that when done in mass form, this was the case a couple of years ago when site generators or blog generators were popular, these allowed you to make thousands of pages or hundreds of sites in one sitting… and so let’s say a thousand pages is an opportunity for you to put up a link, so that is one thousand links to your site. This does not work anymore, but what does work is the principle, create more sites that are of true value and rich in content, leave links in them pointing to the main site you want to promote.
